On March 29, UCLA Fund Chancellor's Cabinet members and their guests enjoyed a memorable evening of world-class entertainment by the Palomino Clarinet Trio, comprised of Gluck Fellows Denextel Domingo '07, Isaac Melamed '07, and Lisa Iwaki '07, at a dinner hosted by Chancellor and Mrs. Norman Abrams at the Chancellor's Residence. In addition to being top UCLA student-musicians, the Gluck Fellows entertain and educate audiences at schools, senior centers and other institutions throughout Southern California, performing free of charge to individuals and groups who might otherwise not have the opportunity to hear live classical and jazz music.

UCLA Fund Chancellor's Cabinet members Sally Vena and David Vena '61 said,“From the incredible musical talent to wonderful conversation with so many dedicated friends, we were reminded throughout the evening of what a special role UCLA plays in our lives.”

Chancellor's Associates Reception

On May 3, Chancellor and Mrs. Norman Abrams honored the recipients of the UCLA Fund's Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Service at a reception at the Residence. The annual event pays tribute to donors whose exemplary volunteer support and participation have been significant. This year's honorees:

Andrew E. Katz '69, J.D. '72
has been an invaluable leader to the UCLA Fund for more than 10 years, having served as chair of the UCLA Fund executive committee and chair of the San Fernando Valley/Ventura County/Santa Barbara regional committee. Andy is also an active member of the UCLA Foundation Board and serves on the finance and philanthropy committees. He continues to provide invaluable guidance for volunteer management, solicitation strategy, marketing and communications, and exemplifies Bruin alumni contributing to our communities.

Linda Rambis, Parent '09 is a volunteer on the Chancellor's Associates South Bay committee. She has helped to increase the visibility of UCLA in the South Bay and has energized the volunteer committee with her creativity. She offers her time and resources to secure exclusive venues for events for our South Bay Cabinet members and volunteer committee, including an event at the Staples Center which she hosted. For the past three years, Linda has also donated Lakers sports memorabilia to auction at the Young Alumni Reunion. She continues to go above and beyond in her role as a South Bay parent volunteer.

Connolly Oyler '55 has served for the past two years as chair of the chancellor's associates West Los Angeles committee, which has grown substantially under his supervision. He and his wife Michelle generously host a Chancellor's Associates event at their home each year. Connolly has also reached out to other campus groups such as Bruin Professionals to create beneficial ties with the Chancellor's Associates. His strong leadership is always delivered with a dose of humor which makes for a meaningful but enjoyable experience for all.

The UCLA Fund salutes these loyal Bruin friends and alumni for all they do in support of UCLA.
